749,751. Capacitors; mounting terminal. BRENNAN, J. B. Dec. 29, 1952, No. 32848/52. Classes 37 and 38 (1). The open-ended can of an electrolytic capacitor is sealed by clamping a resilient disc between two rigid plates, the disc having at least one radial slot for the passage of a terminal lead, the slots being closed by the clamping pressure. In Figs. 1 and 6, the terminal leads 4, 5 of capacitor roll 3 pass through slots 10 in disc 9 of rubberlike material which is placed between rigid insulating plates 7 and 8. The open end of can 1 contains a resilient liner 2, and the top of the can is spun over to press plates 7 and 8 against a shoulder 6 so that disc 9 is compressed to close up slots 10 and seal the terminal leads. Terminal lugs 11 and 12 are provided on plate 7. Plates 7 and 8 may be cross-shaped, or have radial slots or openings to receive the terminals 4 and 5. A separate mounting ring may be provided around the end of the cam, and this ring may carry a terminal lug, one terminal of the condenser then being connected to the can and the mounting ring. U.S.A.
