[Class 37] An electric condenser of the rolled foil type is compressed to give a prescribed capacity value and then secured by a clamp, comprising at least one channel-shaped member. In an example, condenser units 15 are placed with a paper lining 16 in a lower channel element 12 which then receives an upper channel element 11 having tongues 13 in register with lugs 14 in the element 12. This assembly is dried at a temperature of 115‹ C. Œ 6‹ C. for 14 to 48 hours and placed in a cooling chamber for at least 4 hours at slightly above atmospheric pressure. The assembly is then compressed and subsequently clamped by folding tongues 13 over the lugs 14 when the capacity of the condenser attains a value which is predetermined by a linear relationship, to give the desired capacitance after impregnation. The assembly is then fitted in a container having small holes, for permitting impregnation and filling, which can be sealed by solder. Alternatively, impregnation may be effected before compression. In a modification, the elements 11, 12 are locked by fusing pips formed on the adjacent faces of their side walls. The pips may be formed on one element only. In another example, the condenser units are placed in a channel element as at 11 with a superposed metal plate which can be locked after compression by folding over slitted parts of the sides of the channel elements. An unslotted channel element may be used, tongues being punched in its side walls to lock the plate.
