Abstract

749,716. Thermal switches; snap-action switches. TAYLOR, E. H. Sept. 23, 1954 [Oct. 8. 1953], No. 27690/53. Class 38(5) The bimetal element 2 of Specifications 600,055 or 657,434, carries a contact 15 cooperating with fixed contact 8. The end of contact - carrying tongue 4b engages a ball 14 located in guides or recesses in a frame 1. The ball also engages a plunger 11 which is biased upwards by a spring 13. When the contacts are closed, the ball 14 is forced against a necked part of the plunger. Heating of the bimetal causes the contacts to separate and the ball is forced to the right over the end of the tongue 4b by upward movement of the plunger by the spring. The contacts can only be reclosed by depression of the. plunger to allow the ball to re-engage the necked part of the plunger.
