Abstract

746,752. Supply systems for space discharge tubes; charging and discharging condensers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 24, 1953 [Aug. 19, 1952], No. 20801/52. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XL (a)] A stroboscopic light source comprises two or more sealed envelope sections 1, 2, Fig. 1, having cold main rod electrodes 3, 6, 4, and connected in series, a trigger voltage being applied at a single auxiliary electrode 8 mounted on the external peripheries of all the envelope sections. A condenser 9 is connected in shunt with the envelope sections. The envelope sections can be coiled as at 10, 11, in Fig. 2, or of M- or U- shape as at 10, 11 in Fig. 3, the auxiliary electrode being shown at 16. The envelope sections may be filled with xenon at a pressure of about 300 mms. of mercury.
