Abstract

744,821. Adjustable cranks. HORDERN MASON & EDWARDS, Ltd. Oct. 23, 1953 [Oct. 27, 1952], No. 26857/52. Class 80(3) The throw of a crank is adjustable by means of an eccentric sleeve 15 which is rotatable upon the crankpin 14 arranged between two cheeks 12, 13. The sleeve 15 is locked in any desired position by means of a locking ring 22 with internal helical teeth which engage with corresponding external teeth 24 on a circular portion of the cheek 13 and teeth on an extension 19 of the sleeve 15. The ring 22 is adapted to be rotated by a tommy bar inserted in a socket 34 therein to move axially to release the sleeve 15 which can then be rotated as required when it can be again locked. The ring 22 may be secured by a set screw 29. A slot 31 in the ring 22 enables a bar to be engaged in sockets 30 of the sleeve 15 during the locking and unlocking by ring 22. The sleeve 15 may be formed in two halves across a diametrical plane 16 through the crankpin 14 and secured together by bolts to facilitate assembly on the crankpin. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 660,724.
