Abstract
743,717. Inductors. BRITISH DIELECTRIC RESEARCH, Ltd. Feb. 8, 1954 [Feb. 9, 1953], No. 3581/53. Class 38 (2). [Also in Groups XXXVI and XL (c)] A folded or rolled inductor, Fig. 2, with metallized end faces 4, comprises an insulating strip 1, Fig. 1 (e.g. polystyrene foil) coated across the whole of its width with conductive material (e.g. cadmium) and the latter is broken by lines 2 parallel with the length of the strip to form a sinuous or zig-zag current path. In producing the inductor, the Fig. 1 strip may be interwound with a second polystyrene strip 26, Fig. 6, on which are deposited ferrite powder tracks 27 which coincide with alternate conducting paths on the Fig. 1 strip 25. In a modified inductor a Fig. 1 strip is wound around a roll of the foil 26 or as shown, Fig. 5, around a magnetic rod 23 which may consist of short lengths of solid magnetic material a separated by non-magnetic spacers b.
