Abstract

741,035. Tilting-furnaces. WISTRA OFENBAUGES. Nov. 19, 1953, No. 32125/53. Class 51 (2). A metal-melting furnace is mounted so as to rock about a central horizontal axis and has a feed chamber 10 arranged substantially in a plane passing through the said axis, the interior of the furnace being divided into two melting chambers 15 by a central wall 14 which also forms the feed chamber, so that when the furnace is rocked molten metal passes from one melting chamber to the other by way of the feed chamber the wall of which has openings 11 leading to the melting chambers. The furnace is intended for melting shavings and small pieces, but larger pieces may be introduced through an additional charging aperture 25. Openings 17 are provided. through which fluxing salts may be introduced and the furnace is heated by burners 16.
