Reverberatory furnaces; tilting-furnaces.-The furnace of the parent Specification is mounted on trunnions h, h<1> so that it can be tilted to discharge the molten metal. The furnace shown comprises a fire-box a<3> separated by a bridge a<4> from a hearth chamber a<2>, which is connected by a restricted opening a<6> with a combined uptake and feed hopper a<5> controlled by a damper a<7>. Air is supplied to the ash-pit by a fan g mounted on the furnace casing. The tilting is effected by a hand-wheel n through bevel and worm gearing.
