167,289. Armstrong, Whitworth, & Co., Ltd., Sir W. G., Trevelyan, F. B., Andrew, J. H., and Miller, C. P. May 5, 1920. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Pulverulent-fuel furnaces.-In a furnace of the type in which powdered fuel and air are projected along a flat roof 1 and deflected by a rounded rear wall 3 so as to travel backward over the hearth and heat the incoming air and fuel, the furnace chamber is of wedge shape, tapering towards the front at 4 to constitute a narrow opening 5 by which waste gases escape to the flue 6. In modifications two relatively inverted furnace units are superimposed, the hearths being omitted, or two units may be placed end to end, the lower parts of the common rounded ends being removed.
