Abstract
740,027. Gasifying coal-dust. DIDIERWERKE AKT.-GES. Feb. 10, 1954 [Feb. 25, 1953], No. 3881/54. Class 55 (1). In a process for the gasification of coal-dust in a stream of a carrier gas, coal-dust is fed by line 2 into the reaction chamber 8 of a gasifier 1 together with a preheated fuel gas free from or poor in hydrocarbons through line 11, e.g. as shown recycled product gas, and preheated air and/or oxygen through line 6, the gases produced' leave by line 4 pass through a dust separator 14 and are recycled by line 10 or withdrawn by line 13; the separated dust from separator 14 passes by line 5 into the reaction chamber 9 of the gasifier, air and/or oxygen being fed in through line 7, the gases produced in this chamber are added to those produced in chamber 8 and liquid slag is withdrawn at 3. Steam may be added to the recycled gas at 22A and the quantity of the gas recycled is sufficient to prevent a harmful amount of soot appearing in the product gases. Separator 14 is also a heat exchanger and heat extracted from the gases at 14 may be used to preheat fuel and steam gas and air and/or oxygen in preheaters 22 and 12 respectively.
