Abstract

1,255,124. Carbonizing coal. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. 4 June, 1970 [28 Aug., 1969], No. 27084/70. Heading C5E. In a process for carbonizing fine-grained coal in a fluidized bed reactor, air and a gaseous, vaporous, or liquid fuel are delivered to the reactor from below through mixing nozzles and are burnt below the bed. The combustion gases form the fluidizing gas. The air, which may be preheated, e.g. by the exhaust gases, and the fuel are delivered through concentric tubes to the nozzle head, see Fig. 1 (not shown), and the exhaust gases and/or tars removed therefrom may be used as the fuel.
