Abstract
739,855. Plate racks. HOBART MANUFACTURING CO. March 23, 1954 [March 25, 1953], No. 8439/54. Class 28 (2). A dish rack comprises an open wire framework of bottom and sides divided by vertical closed loops 30 forming divisions for the dishes, such loops'30 being received and held in other wire loops 20 attached to a pair of opposite sides. The rack is built up of a bottom wire framework square 13 enclosing the bottom of vertical wires 18 on opposite sides 12 which wires are doubled over downwards as in Fig. 4 for stability. The tops of the wires 18 extend above the sides of the racks to provide guides for stacking racks on top of each other. The other side walls 11 include opposing pairs of horizontally spaced U-shaped guides 20 welded to the side walls 11 with the bottoms 22 of the loops bent inwardly at about 45 degrees, the loops 22 at each side 11 and pointing towards each other form open slots 25 to receive removable rectangular separators 30, Fig. 5, which are prevented from rattling by a slight twist in the lower part of the loops 22. The guides 20 are locked in position to the lower ends of loops 22 by sliding inwards a long pin 40 at each end, the end 41 being bent over to form a stop 41. The rack may have an integral bottom or an interchangeable open bottom 45, formed of flat rectangular closed loops 46 welded to bars 48 and with their ends 47 turned up and locked by rings 49 to the sides of the frame. The wires may be coated by a polyvinyl chloride material.
