Abstract

739,001. Pressure gauges. PAYNE & GRIFFITHS, Ltd. April 20, 1954 [April 24, 1953], No. 11327/53. Class 106 (2). A differential fluid pressure gauge comprises the combination of two oppositely-directed and spirally coiled Bourdon tubes b the inner ends of which are anchored, a pair of parallel rods f secured respectively to the outer ends of the Bourdon tubes, a rigid link g interconnecting the opposite ends of the rods, and mechanism operable through the medium of the link g for actuating an index finger. The link g may be secured to one rod f by a pivot-pin i and to the other rod f by an adjustable clamp j and have an adjustable coupling h in its length. Differences between pressures communicated to the tubes b through couplings e cause the link g to move a segmental rack p through a pin n and slot m and turn a pointer through a pinion q on its shaft engaging the rack p. The transmission from the link g to the rack p is varied in two modifications, in one of which the movement is magnified through a plurality of links.
