Abstract
581,054. Differential pressure gauges. BUDENBERG GAUGE CO., Ltd., and CADMAN, G. Aug. 11, 1944, No. 15317. [Class 106 (ii)] A differential pressure gauge comprises two Bourdon tubes, having independent pressure inlets and arranged coaxially, the free end of one tube being linked with a toothed quadrant pivotally mounted in a frame to which the free end of the second tube is linked, the toothed quadrant engaging a pinion with which an indicating pointer rotates, and the frame being pivotally mounted on the axis of the pinion. In the gauge shown, the free ends a<1>, bl of two Bourdon tubes A, B are adjustably connected by means of links a<2>, b<2> to a toothed quadrant e<2> and a frame G respectively, the toothed quadrant being pivoted on a transverse member g of the frame and the frame being pivotally mounted on a spindle e, which also carries a pinion e<1> enmeshing with the toothed quadrant and an indicating pointer E. Should the pressure applied to tube A exceed that applied to tube B (Fig. 4), the toothed quadrant is rotated in a clockwise direction. about its axis g on the frame and the pointer is rotated in an anticlockwise direction. If the greater pressure is applied to the tube B, the frame is rotated about the spindle e in an anticlockwise direction, thus rotating the toothed quadrant in an anticlockwise direction about its axis g on the frame and rotating the pointer in a clockwise direction. To avoid disengagement between the toothed quadrant and the pinion e<1>, excessive relative movement of the free ends of the tubes is prevented by a hook b<3> on the tube B which encircles a projection a<3> on the tube A.
