Abstract
507,666. Pressure gauges. BARNET INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., and GRANT, C. R. A. Dec. 20, 1937, No. 35263. [Class 106 (ii)] A pressure gauge having two pressure responsive means, comprised by Bourdon tubes and so connected with the indicating pointer that decrease in curvature of one or other tube tends to shift the pointer in opposite directions, has one of the pressure responsive means sealed and the other connected with a source of pressure and at least one of the pressure responsive means comprised by two or more Bourdon tubes. As shown the upper pair of tubes 11 extend anticlockwise from a support 12 and the similar .lower pair 13 extend clockwise from the same support. Their free ends 14, 15 lie diametrically opposite and the ends of each pair are connected by a light bar which is connected pivotally to links 16, 17 which extend inwardly and are connected by a pivot pin 20 to a quadrant member 22, the pin being adjustable in a slot in the quadrant which pivots about an axis 19. The upper pair of tubes are sealed while the lower communicate with the pressure via the hollow support 12. The external pressure influences both tubes to an equal and opposite extent. In a modification, both pairs of tubes run counterclockwise from the pillar and the free ends are connected on opposite sides of the axis 19 to the quadrant. In a further modification the pairs of tubes are in the same direction. The lower pair are connected by a link to a lever rocking about a fixed pivot. This lever at its mid point carries a pivot for a two-armed lever with equal arms the free ends of which are connected by links to the quadrant and the other pair of tubes respectively.
