Abstract

Textile fabrics, particularly of wool, are passed around perforated drums under tension whilst steam is passed from the inside of the drums through the fabric, as in conventional decatizing processes, the steam is then shut-off and compressed air is passed through the fabrics in the same direction as the steam. The compressed air which is under a pressure of the order of 60 lbs./sq. inch is preferably supplied from a reservoir or cylinder and the final cooling of the fabric may be effected by stopping the flow of compressed air and passing air at atmospheric pressure through it in the opposite direction.
