Abstract
Woollen fabrics are shrunk, dried and conditioned by a continuous and forwarding treatment in which <PICT:0354540/IV/1> the fabric is uniformly wetted, led into a drying chamber with festooning mechanism to which chamber fresh air is supplied and wherein the shrinking is effected, and then passed to a conditioning chamber where moist air is circulated. The fabric f passes from a dewing or wetting machine over a steaming box b into the drying chamber e where it is formed into festoons. Fresh air enters at e2, is circulated by the fans g over heated pipes and is withdrawn by a fan h. The festooned fabric passes on to a conditioning chamber i in which moist air is circulated by fans j. The fabric passes out of the conditioning chamber to a plaiting down device o.
