Abstract

325,052. Krantz, H., and Krantz, W., (trading as Krantz S÷hne, H.). Oct. 20, 1928, [Convention date]. Pressing &c.-In a process for decatizing fabrics, the fabric is intermittently fed in flat condition and during the stationary periods one portion is steamed under pressure while a previously steamed portion is simultaneously cooled. The web is fed by a permeable endless conveyer 9 from stretching-bars 14 over perforated chambers 1, 7 to a plaiter 16. During stationary periods steam is admitted to the chamber 1 and beneath a plunger 3 which raises the chamber 1 and presses it against a fixed plate 5. Simultaneously a valve 38 in the suction conduit of a fan is opened to permit cooling air to be drawn through a previously steamed portion of the fabric. Electromagnets operating the clutch of the driving roller 11 of the band 9, the steam supply valves, and the valve 38, are operated by a rotary electric switch or other means. A number of fabric layers may be simultaneously treated.
