Abstract
446,506. Ironing -machines; rollers. TANQUERAY, D. Y. B., and BAKER PERKINS, Ltd., Westwood Works, Peterborough, and DAVIES, B. S., and SORBO, Ltd., Maybury, Woking, Surrey. Oct. 25, 1934, No. 30649. [Classes 42 (ii) and 138 (ii)] Padding for the rollers or other press members of ironing - machines comprises a layer 11 or layers of sponge rubber having on one or both sides a layer 12 of material such as canvas or solid rubber having asbestos or other non-conductor of heat incorporated therein. Additional and intermediate layers of canvas or canvas-asbestos may be incorporated in the padding. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the sponge rubber is in the form of strips 20 spaced apart and arranged in staggered layers whereby air pockets are formed, and a layer of sponge rubber may be placed above the top layer of strips beneath a canvas or canvas-asbestos layer 23. In this form the strips are mounted on a canvasasbestos foundation 22. A lining sheet of woven asbestos may be inserted between the ,padding and the usual fabric cover and a layer of fine wire gauze may be incorporated in the padding or wrapped therearound.
