Abstract

737,809. Brick drying apparatus. QUEENSMERE PROPERTIES & INVESTMENTS, Ltd. May 13, 1954 [Feb. 16,1953], No. 4336/53. Class 34 (2). A brick drier has a number of drying corridors A, B, C, D, E, F, each of which is connected through four baffle-controlled openings 26, 28, 30, 32 located in different parts of the corridor to four air ducts 34, 36, 38, 40 connected in pairs, the two pairs being connected respectively to a source of hot air and an air outlet pipe and also to each other so that two fourway junctions 42, 44 are formed, controlled by valves 74, 76 enabling the direction of air flow to be reversed without alteration of the setting of baffles 26a, 28a, 30a, 32a controlling openings 26, 28, 30, 32. Hot air is supplied from heaters 46, 48 through fans 50, 52 and the junction 42 is connected back to the inlet side 54 of heater 46 through a passage 56 and the other junction 44 is connected to inlet side 58 of heater 48 through a passage 60, passages 56, 60 having baffle-controlled openings leading to air outlet pipes 66, 68. The corridors may be supplied with hot dry air, or moist air from other corridors by suitable arrangement of the baffles 26a, 28a, 30a, 32a and since the openings 26, 28, 30, 32 are arranged two at the top of the corridors and two at the bottom, air flow can be arranged upwardly or downwardly by movement of valves 74, 76 which movement may be done automatically at predetermined intervals.
