Abstract
277,135. Marks, E. C. R., (Drying Systems, Inc.). June 25, 1926. Endless-band conveyers, articles carried by; air, controlling direction of flow of. - Suction nozzles 13, 21 are disposed at the upper parts of the open ends of a drying-tunnel, through which the materials are conveyed by endless bands, to prevent the admission of cold air along the floor of the tunnel. Fresh air is drawn through an inlet 6, preheater 8, washer and humidifier 9, and main heater 10 by the fan 11 and forced into a conduit 7<1> having distributing-nozzles 7 consisting of tapering tubes with longitudinal slots for directing the air downwardly in the tunnel. Additional fans 17 communicating with distributing-nozzles and inlet nozzles 16, 16<1> connected to heaters 18, 19 and a humidifier 20 are provided for circulating the air in the tunnel. The nozzles 13 at the material outlet end of the tunnel communicate with the main heater 10, while the nozzles 21 at the opposite end communicate with an exhaust fan 22. The distributing-nozzles may be disposed on the floor of the tunnel and direct the air upwardly therein.
