Abstract
734,608. Coal-washing jigs. HUNTER, S. Dec. 4, 1952, No. 30799/52. Class 82 (2). A jig of the kind having several water chambers 7, 8, 9 underneath the jig screen and a separate chamber 6 located under the hinged extension 31 of the screen 10, and also having control means regulating the water movement in the chamber 6 in accordance with the height of the shale layer on the jig screen, has a further control of the water movement in the water chambers under the jig screen. A swimmer 20 rides on the shale layer on the jig screen and transmits its motions by means of a power amplifier 37, 19, 28, 32 to control the inclination of the extension 31 and the water movement of the chamber 6 by means of a throttle valve 18 controlling air to the pulsator valve 11. Similar throttle valves 24, 25, 26 controlling the water movement in the chambers 7, 8, 9 are also controlled through a drag link 29. This operates to prevent the shale layer being reduced below a predetermined minimum due to cessation of feed.
