Abstract
733,954. Coke oven door fastenings. KOPPERS GES., H. May 1, 1953 [May 2, 1952], No. 12142/53. Class 55 (1). The latch 14 of a coke oven door 9 is rotatable on a stationary spindle 12, the latch pressure being relieved by depressing the sleeve 13, either by means on the door operating machine, or by turning the latch-screw 18 by hand when a spring detent 39 is withdrawn by handle 40. The latch is moved slightly towards the door by the sleeve 13 at the end of its travel. The pressure exerted by the plate springs 28, on the door, can be varied by first removing the latch screw 18, the latch 14, the sleeve 13 and the pin 32, in which the detent is housed and then screwing the spindle 12 into or out of bearing 10.
