Abstract

860,627. Cam-operated switches. ELECTROLUX CORPORATION. Nov. 24, 1959 [Nov. 24, 1958], No. 39801/59. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXIII] The handle of a floor polishing machine incorporates a cam-operated electric switch, controlling the driving-motor, and which is closed when the handle is in the inclined position in which it is used for operating the machine, and which is opened when the handle is vertical or horizontal. A cam 80 is secured to the end of a leg 76 of the forked handle and is rotatable therewith in a supporting-bracket 72. When the handle is horizontal or vertical the cam 80 so retains a cam follower 86 on a pivoted lever 82 that an end of the latter depresses, against the action of a spring 94, an end of a pivoted arm 90, actuating a toggle switch 92, to maintain the switch open. When the handle is in its operative position the cam follower 86 is allowed to rise within a concave part 96 of the cam 80 so that the switch 92 is closed by the spring 94.
