Abstract
482,939. Vertical coke-oven discharge doors. OTTO & CO., GES., DR. C. Jan. 13, 1938, No. 1188. Convention date, Jan. 13, 1937. [Class 51 (ii)] A door 11 for vertical externally-heated coke ovens is provided with an upper plate 24 which keeps the charge of coal up to the level of the lowest heating flues 2, thus avoiding incompletely coked coal. Plate 24 can be lowered by a rod 26 passing through a ball joint 28 into a, position not hindering the opening of door 11, and can be kept horizontal by turning the rod so that pins 29 engage in slots 30.
