Abstract

434,737. Coking process. BRASSERT & CO., Ltd., H. A., and BRASSERT, H. A., Brook House, Walbrook, London. March 8, 1934, Nos. 7451 and 8239. [Class 55 (i)] Coal or other solid fuel is coked by being charged into a horizontal oven which is heated mainly through the floor, and liquid hydrocarbons are sprayed on to the surface of the charge from the roof of the oven. These hydrocarbons may be added continuously, or at certain stages, and particularly towards the end of the process. The floor and sides of the oven chamber may be lined with tiles of silicon carbide, fused alumina, aluminium silicate, or other refractory material of high heat conductivity.
