Abstract

1334373 Coking coal BRITISH STEEL CORP 9 Nov 1971 [10 Nov 1970] 53418/70 Heading C5E Coal for coking is dried and/or preheated by the sensible heat of hot coke. Hot coke from a coke oven is conveyed to a chamber for countercurrent flow with inert combustion gases derived from the oven, the heated gases being passed to a vessel for direct contact with coal which is to be conveyed to the oven. Gases from the vessel may be heated or recycled to the chamber, from which cooled coke is periodically removed.
