Abstract
1,197,485. Coking coal. HUTTENWERK OBERHAUSEN A.G. 8 Nov., 1967 [9 Dec., 1966], No. 50846/67. Heading C5E. Coke of low sulphur content is made by heating coal in a coke oven chamber without introducing air into the chamber, the coking end temperature being between 1050‹ and 1700‹ C. and the coking speed, i.e. the speed at which the carbonizing temperature travels from the chamber walls through the coal to the centre of the coal bed, being above 12, and preferably above 15 mm. per hour.
