Abstract

1462925 Decomposition of waste sulphuric acid BASF AG 14 June 1974 [16 June 1973] 26440/74 Heading C1A The thermal decomposition of a waste sulphuric acid at a temperature of 900 to 1300‹ C., which temperature is achieved by the combustion of a carbonaceous material, is carried out so that the decomposition takes place in a first zone and the combustion in a second zone separate therefrom. This may be effected by carrying out the decomposition in a separate chamber from the combustion, or by carrying out the combustion and decomposition conjointly in a decomposition furnace in which the burners for the carbonaceous fuel and the nozzles for introduction of the acid are so located and adjusted that substantially no acid penetrates into the combustion or flame zone or is mixed with unburnt fuel.
