Abstract

732,580. Smallware looms. MATTERSON & SONS, Ltd. Dec. 11, 1953 [Dec. 12, 1952], No. 31546/52. Class 142(2). The boxes of a multi-tier batten are raised and lowered by a rod connected to a lifting shaft above the loom, the shaft being turned by further rods from jacquard-controlled lifting mechanism. Levers 18 .. 21 are moved by a jacquardcontrolled lever 37 to engage or disengage protuberances 30, 30<SP>1</SP> on a lever 10 pivoted at 11, the levers 18 .. 21 being reciprocated vertically by levers 25, 26 having rollers 33, 34 engaging a slot 35 in a cam 32. The cam 32 is driven from, .and at half the speed of, the crankshaft 2. When one of the levers 18 .. 21 is engaged with the lever 10, its subsequent movement downwards pivots the lever 10 and, through rods 16, 13 and a chain 14 moves the lifting lever 7 which, through the rod 9, raises and lowers the shuttle boxes a .. d. The loom may have a two, three, four, or six tier batten. The marionette, which picks the shuttle, is attached at its upper end to the lifting shaft and at its lower end to the batten front.
