Abstract
730,681. Magnetrons. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. (International Standard Electric Corporation). Feb. 11, 1953, No. 3839/53. Class 39 (1). [Also in Group XL (b)] A tapering coaxial line section 8 is coupled to a multi-cavity magnetron 1 by means of a wave-guide section 5, the outer and inner conductors 9, 10 of the coaxial line being connected respectively to either vane 16, 17 of a doublevane impedance-transformer ramp leading from an opening in the magnetron 1. The guide section 5 and the coaxial section 8 are evacuated, seals 7, 13 being provided. The coaxial line enters the guide at right-angles in order to prevent entry of electrons. The two vanes of the ramp diverge slightly from the input end and the amount of divergence may be adjusted by means of a movable portion 20 of the lower vane 17 which is pivoted at 21. The portion of the guide section 5 beyond the transformer section is proportioned to be beyond cut-off and so reflects a high impedance at the junction of the vanes 16, 17 and the coaxial line 8.
