Abstract

644,308. Electron-beam apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 3, 1947, No. 231. Convention date, Sept. 13, 1945. [Class 39 (i)] In a tube of the type in which an electron beam 2 is deflected across two output anodes 4, 5 by the transverse electric component of an electromagnetic wave travelling along a waveguide or transmission line 6, the velocity of the wave is reduced to that of the electrons by loading it with dielectric 3. The line may be two plates 6 with a curved input portion 7 and a non-reflective termination 9. The whole may be mounted within an evacuated envelope 13, or the dielectric 3 may form part of the envelope.
