Abstract
663,728. Magnetrons; travelling-wave tubes. COMPAGNIE GENERALE .DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. Oct. 29, 1947 [Jan. 9, 1947], No. 28840/47. Class 39 (i). A magnetron amplifier comprises two circular concentric electrodes 1, 2 forming a waveguide having delay line characteristics in which electromagnetic waves propagated from an input coupling E to an output coupling S interact with electrons emitted from a cathode K, and travelling under the influence of a constant radial electric field and a constant axial magnetic field; a partition P prevents the electrons and the electromagnetic waves from passing beyond the output coupling S towards the input coupling E. The delay line characteristics are introduced into the wave-guide by providing the electrode 2 with radial slits F. In a modification, the electrodes 1, 2 are each formed by a flat wire helix.
