Abstract
726,963. Inductors. MORLE, C. W. (Oak Manufacturing Co.). Nov. 5, 1952, No. 27848/52. Class 38 (2). [Also in Groups XXXVI and XL (c)] A tuning unit for a radio receiver comprises a combined inductance and variable capacitor, the inductance comprising a strip of metal 105, Fig. 8, bent round into a loop and terminating in a pair of coplanar capacitor plates 103, 104 co-operating with a pair of rotor plates 98, 99 to provide a variable capacitor. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 7, used in the local oscillator circuit 93, Fig. 3, of the receiver, the loop 105 is split into two parts 108; 109 separated by a thin insulating layer acting as a coupling capacitor between the two halves of the loop. -The inductance of the loops 105 may be varied by means of metallic members 134, Fig. 3, which are adjustably located within the loops by means of bolts 130.
