666,489. Valve amplifying circuits. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF TECHNICAL SERVICES OF. Feb. 27, 1948 [Aug. 30, 1945], No. 5959/48. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (vi). A valve amplifier, particularly for intermediate frequencies, with bandwidth #f and centre frequency f o comprises n stages, each tuned by a single resonant circuit and associated in pairs. The stages of a pair have a bandwidth equal to and are tuned above and below the centre frequency f o by where k is an odd integer associated with the pair. When the ratio #f/f o =# (bandwidth/ centre frequency) is not negligibly small, the stages of each pair are tuned to frequencies f o α k and fo/α k and each has a Q-value equal to 1 -, where d k and k is an odd integer between 1 and n-1 associated with the pair. If the number of stages should be odd, one stage'is tuned to the centre frequency f o and has bandwidth #f. The Specification includes tables of desired bandwidth and staggering for different numbers of stages.
