Abstract

706,065. Impedance networks. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., BIGGS, A. J., and RIBCHESTER, E. Jan. 15, 1953 [Jan. 18, 1952], No. 1517/52. Class 40 (8) A sound rejection circuit for a television receiver comprises a parallel resonant input circuit broadly resonant at the sound frequency, a parallel resonant output circuit broadly resonant within the desired pass band and a coupling circuit which has a high impedance at the sound frequency and a low impedance at that end of the pass band adjacent the sound frequency. The input circuit comprises an inductor 1 arranged to resonate with the interelectrode capacitance 4 of a tetrode amplifying valve 2. The output circuit comprises an inductor 6 arranged to resonate with the interelectrode capacitance 8 of a further tetrode 7. Both input and output circuits are damped by resistances 5, 9. The coupling circuit comprising a blocking capacitor 10 and a parallel resonant circuit 11 presents sharp parallel and series resonances respectively at the sound frequency and at an adjacent frequency within the pass band of the vision frequency. Depending upon the relative values of the sound and vision frequencies the coupling circuit may take various forms, e.g. a high valued capacitor in parallel with a series resonant circuit.
