Abstract

577,462. Impedance networks; valve amplifying circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and ESPLEY, D. C. May 21, 1943, No. 8099. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] An electric multistage valve amplifier is given a band-pass characteristic with a wide frequency range by providing a coupling consisting of a pair. of parallel tuned circuits resonant to different frequencies and a resistor, preferably variable, connecting a point on the inductance of one tuned circuit to a point of the inductance of the other tuned circuit. The Figure shows an arrangement suitable for an intermediate frequency amplifier in which the tappings T1, T2 of the resistance R to the inductances L1, L2 is not to the high potential ends of these coils. By suitable adjustment of the tappings variation in the ratio of the capacity C1, C2 to the frequencies may be compensated. The Specification gives a mathematical analysis of the circuit showing that the frequency transferimpedance at any particular frequency within the band may be made equal to that at frequencies near the ends of the range. High impedance valves such as pentodes or screen grid valves are preferably employed.
