Abstract
706,066. Impedance networks. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., BIGGS, A. J., and RIBCHESTER, E. Jan. 15, 1953 [Jan. 18, 1952], No. 1519/52. Class 40 (8) A sound-rejection circuit for a television receiver comprises a series resonant input circuit broadly resonant at the frequency of the sound signal, a series resonant output circuit broadly resonant within the desired pass band and a coupling circuit connected in parallel with the input and output circuits which is sharply resonant and has a low impedance at the frequency of the sound signal. The input and output circuits comprise respectively inductors 5, 8 which resonate respectively with the stray capacitances 6, 9 of the pentodes 1, 3. The input and output circuits are damped by resistances 7, 10. The coupling circuit consists of a capacitor 12 and an inductor 11 arranged in series and, preferably, shunted by a further inductor 13 which makes the coupling circuit also sharply resonant and of high impedance at the end of the pass band adjacent the sound signal frequency and thus has the effect of steepening the response curve between the end of the pass band and the frequency of the sound signal.
