Abstract

670,851. Electric filters. MURPHY RADIO, Ltd. Nov. 14, 1946 [Sept. 23, 1944; May 22, 1945], Nos. 11930/50 (divided out of 18197/44), and 12749/45. Class 40 (viii). [Also in Group XL (c)] An image rejection circuit for a superheterodyne radio receiver comprises a tuned circuit, Fig. 3, the inductance N of which is coupled to a further inductance K from which the output is taken, the tuned circuit being resonant to the desired signal frequency and having a second resonance in conjunction with the inductance K whereby the unwanted image frequency is rejected. The input is applied to a coupling coil J which may be combined as an auto-transformer with the coil K, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown), or the coil N, Fig. 4 (not shown); in the arrangement of Fig. 1 the image-rejection circuit is preceded by a cathodefollower buffer valve, the aerial circuit being untuned.
