A device for securing a bucket to an elevator chain consists of a metal forging comprising an elongated base portion parallel to a bucket wall adjacent the chain and welded to the wall, and a chain link-engaging-extension on each end of the base portion which engage two different chain links. In Figs. 3, 4, each bucket T is secured to a pair of chains by members comprising a base portion 1 welded to the bucket and formed with hook portions 2 engaging the links A of the chains, the members replacing. links in the chains. In a modification, Fig. 9, the base portion 3 is provided with arms 4 engaging the chain links, the inner surfaces of the arms being formed with grooves shaped to receive the links. The base portions 3 may be secured to the bucket on the outer side of the chains with their pairs of arms 4 extending inwardly towards one another.
