Class 24 [Also in Group XXX] In an articulated plate conveyer (see Group XXX), comprising a succession of loadcarrying plates carried on a pair of flat link chains, each chain is strengthened against downward flexing of its links beyond a predetermined amount to cause it to hang in a circular or part-circular arc by providing the outer links with extensions 17 adapted to engage lugs 8 on the adjacent inner links. Horizontal flexing to a limited extent is obtained by inserting at intervals along the chain a joint comprising a pair of thickened outer link plates 32, Fig. 10, connected together by a bolt 33 and linked at 34 to the adjacent inner link on one side, while the adjacent inner link on the other side has a pin 35 with arcuately shaped ends 38 engaging arcuate recesses 39 in the plates 32.
