Abstract

571,185. Chains. TYNE IMPROVEMENT COMMISSIONERS, and MUIR, W. J. Nov. 12, 1943, No. 18862. [Class 24] The stud of the links of a mooring chain are made in two parts a, b, Fig. 4, shaped to fit the inner sides of the link c and forced into rigid contact therewith by a transverse cotter pin f and nut k bearing on a retaining plate h. Preferably the adjoining faces of the parts a, b are bevelled in the plane of the link as shown at d, Fig. 5, and the two parts are held together for ease of manipulation by a slotted link connection n. In a modification, the stud consists of tow parts a<1>, b<1>, Fig. 6, with meeting faces in the plane of the link and drawn together by a transverse bolt f<1>.
