The plates 1 and 3 have hemispherical flanged parts 2,4 engaging each other to form a ball joint and secured by a rivet 5 with median bulged. portion 51 and with washers 6 shaped to fit the spherical portions 4 and enclosing a recess 8 which may be used as a grease reservoir. A ring 7 with spherical faces to engage the portions 2 lies between the side plates and surrounds the joint. The amplitude of lateral deflection of the chain can be adjusted by the amount of overlap of the plates 1, 3.
