Abstract
726,515. Cable-end sleeves; carrying conductors through partitions. SOC. ALSACIENNE DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES. Sept. 29, 1953 [May 19, 1953], No. 26737/53. Class 36. A sealing member for the end of a sheathed cable having one or more cores insulated by pulverulent material, comprises a cylindrical member 1 which is screwed on to the cable sheath 2 after baring the ends of conductors 5, a layer of plastic insulation 3, elastic insulating packing 4 which rests on an inner shoulder 9 of member 1 and through which the conductors 5 extend, a rigid insulating member 8 having an external flange 7 and a channel for the passage of each conductor 5, and a flanged nut 6 screwed on to member 1 and engaging flange 7 to compress the packing 4 and insulation 3 and render the assembly fluid-tight. For a single core cable the channel through member 8 may be outwardly flared. In the .case of a multi-core cable each of the channels is recessed to accommodate a flexible insulating sleeve 10. In order to secure the assembly through a partition 11, the nut 6 is externally threaded and flanged. Packing 13 is placed between this flange and the partition and the assembly locked by a nut 12.
