Abstract

Conduit, for e.g. opt. pressurised hydrocarbon liqs. or gases, has a plastics, or elastomeric internal tube surrounded by metal sheathing, which is surrounded by an external sealing sheath. Metal connectors fixed to the end of the conduit ensure continuity of these layers. The insulation is between the sheathing and the connectors, at least one of which has a sealed electric contact connected by a conductor to the sheathing, for measurement of any variations of the sheathing's electrical insulation relative to the external environment of the conduit.
