Abstract
778,578. Cable terminations and joints. PIRELLI SOC. PER AZIONI. March 27, 1956 [June 15, 1955], No. 9499/56. Addition to 752,376. Classes 36 and 38(1). In a joint or terminal for hightension cables as disclosed in the parent Specification, the socket is made in two sections, the first section 1 connecting the conductors 3 and the second section 8 completely surrounding the first section, the second section only being embedded in, and in close superficial contact with, the insulating mass 9 having a synthetic resin base and adhering intimately thereto. The duct for the outlet of oil from the section 1 is completely screened by the ring 8. In a stop joint the ring 8 is secured to flange 6 on the section 1. A radial duct 16 from each aperture 2 in the section 1 communicates with an annular space 10 to connect the apertures to the opposite ends of the casing 13, which is made in two parts bolted together and bearing on flange 17 of the insulator 9. The joint between the insulation and the casing may be screened by a metal cylinder 20 embedded in the insulation and connected to the casing. In a feeding joint (Fig. 1, not shown) the section 1 is hollow throughout and is provided with a T- shaped duct leading from its central space to the annular spaces 10.
