Abstract

785,425. Two-part couplings. SOC. OTTAWA. May 23, 1956 [March 2, 1956], No. 15911/56. Class 38 (1). The outer conductor 3 of a coaxial cable is clamped to a metal member 6 forming part of a connector by a nut 9, a frusto-conical surface 6e on the member mating with a frusto-conical surface 11c provided on a metal member 11 forming part of another connector clamped to the grounded wall 5 of an apparatus housing by a nut 12 which also serves to secure members 6, 11 together and ensures good contact between interfitting sleeve 8 and split resilient sleeve 13 forming the contacts for the cable cores 1, 1<SP>1</SP> respectively. The sleeves 8, 13 are separated from members 6, 11 by insulating bushings 7 and 14, 14a respectively, and a rubber washer 16 clamped between the wall 5 and nut 12 provides a moisture seal. Two coaxial cables may be detachably coupled together by securing each to a connector similar to the one to which the coaxial cable shown is secured, but providing the outer metal members connected to the outer cable conductors with complementary frusto-conical surfaces.
