Abstract

A copper-beryllium alloy which may be easily cold worked between solution annealing treatments and which is difficult to over-age on heat-hardening consists of: Be 0.8-1.2 per cent; Zn 1.5-3 per cent; Co and/or Ni 0.2-0.4 per cent; Sn 0.3-0.6 per cent; Si 0.1-0.5 per cent; Te 0.15-0.45 per cent; Al 0.05-0.25 per cent; Cu, the remainder. The alloy is hardened by solution annealing at 1500-1575 DEG C. and then quenching, and ageing at 400 DEG or 500 DEG C. for 4 hours. The alloy may be cold worked after solution annealing to increase the tensile strength.
