Abstract

<PICT:0724989/III/1> <PICT:0724989/III/2> In a labeling machine (see Group XV), a stack of labels 8 reciprocates horizontally to transfer a label to two parallel spaced endless belts 10 which run in contact with a gumming roller 12, the label extracted by the gummed belts being then taken around an upper pulley 15 and transferred by a reciprocating pusher 11 to a rotary block 5 for application to a bottle. The labels are gummed at their end portions only because of the gap between the belts 10 which gap is adjustable to provide for labels of varying width.
