Abstract

952,473. Labelling machines. W. PECHMANN. Sept. 15, 1960 [Sept. 19, 1959], No. 31849/60. Heading B8F. Label strip 2 formed with transverse perforations separating individual label areas is fed from a supply roll 1 by a feed drum 3 formed with pins 6 engaging the perforations between suction rollers 8, 9 which are rotated at a higher speed than that of the drum 3. A movable cutter 15 guided in a radial recess 15<SP>1</SP> in the roller 8 co-operates with a recess 16 in the roller 9 to sever the individual labels which then pass to a suction drum 18 for application to containers as shown. A gumming device or, as shown, a stream of hot air 20 is provided for rendering the labels adhesive and the labels are printed by means of a stamping mechanism 22 on a roller 23. A label gripping device may also be provided on the roller 9.
